Farmina offers several families of dog and cat foods. N&D Prime and N&D Ocean are two examples listed in the manufacturer's catalogue, while Vet Life covers diets intended for specific clinical needs. A range name alone does not identify a recipe, species or food format. Before comparing prices or ingredients, note the full product name, life stage, pack size and whether the food is wet or dry. A photo of the front and the ingredient panel can prevent mix-ups between products with similar packaging.

The example below concerns one identified recipe: N&D Prime Chicken and Pomegranate Adult for cats, as declared on Farmina's Spanish product page. Its ingredient list starts with boneless chicken (30%) and dried chicken protein (28%), followed by sweet potato, chicken fat, dried egg and herring among other ingredients. Dried pomegranate is declared at 0.5%. These percentages belong to that product and the declaration reviewed; they do not describe every Farmina food or even every N&D recipe. Ingredients and formats can change with the market or a reformulation, so the label on the purchased pack is the final check.

What does this list tell you? First, “chicken” occurs in different forms: fresh meat and dried protein are declared separately. Second, “grain-free” in the Prime range does not mean “free of carbohydrates”; this recipe contains sweet potato. Third, fruit in a product name need not be a major ingredient: pomegranate is declared at 0.5% here. Ingredient order is a useful clue, but on its own it cannot establish overall nutritional quality, digestibility or the calories in a serving.

If comparing this recipe with N&D Ocean, begin with the species, life stage, ingredients and analytical information for the exact items in question. Ocean includes seafood-based options, but there is no single “Ocean composition”. Ask for the specific label if you need to avoid a particular ingredient. For a cat receiving both wet and dry food, check that both products suit its life stage and add up their energy; adding a tin without reducing the dry ration changes the daily total.

Vet Life calls for a different conversation. A diet developed for a medical need should not be chosen simply because its name sounds right. A cat whose urination has changed, or a dog with digestive symptoms, needs professional assessment. We cannot prescribe a therapeutic diet over WhatsApp. If your veterinarian has already specified a product, send a photo of its exact name and format so we can check availability and ordering options without replacing the clinical plan. If that variety is unavailable, do not substitute another formula without discussing its suitability with the professional.

To decide whether the current food is working, keep a record for several weeks of who serves each meal and how much, treats, appetite, weight and any stool changes. Do not switch recipes because of a single marketing promise; observe your animal's own tolerance. A useful price comparison calculates the cost per day at the actual portion, rather than only the bag price, and takes acceptance of the format into account.
