Ownat offers several dog and cat food ranges, but their formulas are different. This profile looks at Classic Complet for adult dogs, a specific grain-containing recipe described by its maker for normal activity. If someone asks for Ownat without naming the range, species and life stage, first identify the exact bag: Classic Fish, Classic Light, Grain Free and Classic Complet have different ingredient lists. One recipe cannot describe the whole brand.

In Classic Complet the manufacturer lists meat 32% first, divided into 22% dried meat and 10% fresh chicken before extrusion. Wheat at 18% follows. Other ingredients include chicken fat, maize 9%, barley 8%, peas 5%, wheat bran 5% and rice 5%. The list continues with carob 2%, apple 1%, salmon oil, flaxseed 1%, beet pulp, oligosaccharides, brewer's yeast and small quantities of herbs. These numbers refer to ingredients in this recipe. They are not finished nutrient percentages and should not be extended to other Ownat products.

The wording “fresh chicken before extrusion” matters because fresh meat contains water that decreases during processing. Adding the stated fresh and dried ingredient percentages as if they represented identical amounts in the finished kibble would be misleading. The generic phrase “dried meat” in this list also does not identify just one animal species. If an elimination diet is being considered for suspected allergy, check every ingredient with a veterinarian first. Classic Complet contains wheat, maize and barley, so it is not grain-free. Salmon oil is listed too, despite the product being presented primarily around chicken.

The declared analysis is protein 25%, fat 12%, crude fibre 3%, ash 7.5%, moisture 8%, calcium 1.5% and phosphorus 1.1%. Ownat states 3,650 kcal/kg metabolizable energy. A protein percentage alone does not establish which food is best for a particular dog. Calories eaten, body weight and body condition also matter. Classic Complet is described as complete food for normally active adult dogs. A puppy, a dog with a diagnosed condition or an animal needing weight management requires a different evaluation and, where appropriate, professional guidance.

To estimate how long a bag will last, weigh the actual daily serving and divide the bag weight by that amount. The feeding table is a starting estimate, to be adjusted using weight and body condition. If you combine wet and dry food, reduce the kibble portion to avoid doubling calories. Keep fresh water available and store the bag sealed in a cool, dry place, as the maker advises. Introduce a new food gradually and watch appetite and stools. Repeated vomiting or persistent symptoms call for veterinary assessment.
